Jan 8, 2015 -- Unibright Foods Inc., a Bell Gardens, Calif., establishment, is recalling approximately 48,139 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat sukiyaki beef and gingered pork products that may be contaminated with metal extraneous material.

The following products are subject to recall:

  • 2.2 lb. packages of “Mishima Sukiyaki Beef” bearing the establishment number “EST.1163” inside the USDA mark of inspection and package ID number “15069”, Production dates between Aug. 12, 2014 and Dec. 16, 2014.
  • 1.7 lb. packages of “Mishima Gingered Pork” bearing the establishment number “EST.1163” inside the USDA mark of inspection and package ID number “15059”, Production dates between Aug. 5, 2014 and Aug. 6, 2014.

Unfortunately, Mishima Foods USA, Inc. distributed 2103 cases of Sukiyaki Beef and 226 cases of Gingered Pork that are affected by this voluntary recall. This recall is based on a restaurant in Illinosis found a stainless steel wire in a sukiyaki beef product. There is no report of injury or illness from consumption of the product associated with this recall.

We URGENTLY request that you notify your consumers who may have received these products and provide them with this notice. Please do not dispose of the products. Please direct your customers to retrieve the products and return to your facility. Unibright Foods, Inc. will arrange pick up from your location. Unibright Foods, Inc. will credit your account for product returned.

Unibright Foods Inc. is working with Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. FSIS officials may contact you to confirm you have received this notice and are cooperating in this action.
